About Evan
Evan Dalling is a Canadian-born Jazz and lead trumpet player currently based in New York City. He plays on Brasspire trumpets with Monette Mouthpieces.

Evan is a versatile trumpet player who specializes in post-bop and hard bop improvisation, but has also been known to dabble in many different subgenres of Jazz including Afro-Latin Bop, avant-garde/free improvised music and Modern jazz. He also spends his free time playing standards from the Great American Songbook in places such as Washington Square Park, honoring and continuing the tradition of NYC buskers. Evan has become known around the NYC music scene for his fiery yet lyrical trumpet style, as well as exploring the full range of sonic possibilities available to the instrument.

In addition to his exciting improvisational style, Evan is also a professional Lead trumpet player. Having spent many years studying the Big Band tradition, he is very well versed in the style of many great lead players, including Snooky Young, Jon Faddis, and Arnie Chycoski, among others. He has been playing lead trumpet professionally for the past 10 years, with big bands in NYC, Toronto and Ottawa.

Most recently, Evan has been working with John Benitez, as part of a project called the Afro-Latin Bop group. Evan has also been working semi-regularly with the Kevin Blancq Big Band, which holds a weekly residency at Swing 46 in Midtown Manhattan.
